Ever wonder who recruits, hires, and trains the hundreds of seasonal, part-time, and full-time Park District employees? Connie Curry is the Human Resources Manager for the Woodridge Park District and her responsibilities include recruiting for open positions; new hire paperwork and orientations; attending/organizing/hosting job fairs; processing background checks for employees, volunteers, and independent contractors; conducting and/or organizing employee training; and acting as the Wellness Ambassador and Benefits Coordinator.
Connie began her career with the Park District six years ago and spent the 17 previous years with Marriott International in Illinois and Ohio in the finance and human resources departments. Prior to her career in human resources, she landed her first job at the age of 14 on a chicken farm in a small town in Michigan where she grew up.
When asked what she loves most about working for the Woodridge Park District, Connie said it’s the variety of people she interacts with. “We have employees as young as 14 at their very first job and as old as 96 working part-time at the golf course during their retirement. Working with such a diverse group of employees is very rewarding.”
In her free time, Connie enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, visiting extended family in Michigan, Delaware, Georgia and Omaha, and simply being outdoors.
